PEEK Coatings
PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is a high-performance thermoplastic coating designed for demanding industrial use.
Key benefits:
- Chemical resistance – withstands acids, bases, and solvents
- High temperature stability – works continuously up to 260 °C (500 °F)
- Mechanical strength – durable against wear, impact, and abrasion
- Low friction – reduces energy loss and extends part life
- Electrical insulation – reliable in electronic and electrical systems
- Biocompatibility – safe for medical implants and instruments
Applications:
- Aerospace – strong, lightweight, and heat-resistant components
- Automotive – gears, seals, and bearings with long-lasting performance
- Medical – implants and surgical tools, resistant to sterilization
- Chemical industry – protects equipment and piping from corrosion
- Electronics – insulation for components under high heat
PEEK vs. PTFE
Both are advanced plastics but serve different needs:
- PEEK – higher strength, handles more heat (up to 343 °C), ideal for high-stress, load-bearing parts
- PTFE – lower friction, non-stick, excellent chemical resistance and insulation, but softer and less strong
In short:
- Choose PEEK for strength, durability, and high-temperature performance
- Choose PTFE for low friction, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation
